Tiffin Boxes for Valentine's Day

Published:

Every day in Mumbai 200,000 home cooked, multi course lunches are collected from residences and hand delivered to students and workers across one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The tiffin boxes are delivered by dabbawalas via trains, bicycles and hand carts in a spectacular show which is unique and astonishingly precise. ( according to a recent survey, there is only one mistake in every 6,000,000 deliveries)

The lunches are packed in tiffin boxes also called dabbas, each course separated into layers that stack and lock together for the journey through the bustling streets of Mumbai.

Inspired by this ingenious system we present to you our version of the tiffin box. Of course you guessed it- ours is loaded with 4 layers of chocolate!! cherries, truffles, hot chocolate & cookies and a big heart are packed into a beautiful curvy, totally reusable, stainless steel Tiffin Box ready for you to gift to that special someone. As each layer is revealed the message of love becomes more complete.

Best part of the tiffin box is that it can be returned back to you packed with love letters and treats. This sweet exchange can last as long as stars twinkle in the sky...

Cat Tongues- a sweet crunchy cookie eaten all over Netherlands and SE Asia. Typically made in the shape of Cat tongues, these cuties are shaped into adorable little hearts sandwiched together with our award winning Gianduja (Hazelnut Milk chocolate)

LAYER THREE, RASPBERRY DACQUOISE HEARTS:
large format heart spiked with tangy raspberries. Filled with our award winning Gianduja  (Hazelnut Milk Chocolate) and a layer of Dacquoise a nutty meringue, baked to a slightly chewy and crunchy texture.

LAYER FOUR TRUFFLES!!
The most loved truffles in our collection including 3 special Valentine’s editions, Southbrook Vineyards Anniversary truffle and 2 meltaways, Damask Rose and Pomegranate Molasses.

Anniversary truffle made with Southbrook Vineyards fortified wine

Southbrook is a biodynamic vineyard located in Niagara-on-the-Lake celebrated for its organic wines. Their “Anniversary” is a Chardonnay aged for 6 yrs in oak barrels, fortified and made in the Sherry/Madeira method. Made to celebrate Southbrook’s 20th Anniversary ( they are now 25) Anniversary is warm on the palate with notes of pecans and apricots, we blend Anniversary into a deep dark chocolate ganache made with fruity Jamaican cacao. These 2 are a natural pairing intertwined in the most beautiful way, a love story for the ages.

Damask Rose Meltaway
Roses have long been a symbol of love around the world. The Greeks and Romans associated the rose with the goddess of love, Aphrodite, and would lay a single wild rose on the door of a room that was not to be disturbed (ahem) This rose oil is from the Damask rose (rosa damascene), breathtakingly beautiful with a round delicate scent. Typically it takes almost 1000 kg of rose petals to make only 450g of rose absolute. Let this beauty come to room temperature, sit on your tongue…and let the world change around you.

Pomegranate Molasses Meltaway
Pomegranates are often called the ancient fruit of love. Eating these juicy red jewels were said to give a person special powers and an irresistible allure. Pomegranate molasses is intense, meaty and tangy. Made as a chocolate meltaway for an extended experience, let the chocolate come to room temperature, let it sit on your tongue and close your eyes, made to evoke red the colour of love.

Very limited edition...available for pick up at one of our 2 shops.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!
